For women's suffrage, the world's first woman to be martyred was not from a Western country but was a young poetess, Tahira, also known as Qurat al-Ain, from the Iranian city of Qazvin. The Baha'i faith began on Iranian soil in the 19th century, when women were few and far between. Abdul Baha'i, a leader of the Baha'i faith, wrote in praise of Qurat al-Ain Tahira: Among the women of our time is Qarat al-Ain, the daughter of a Muslim mujtahid who rejected the ancient practice of hijab in Iran, did not consider it wrong for a woman to converse with a man, and had debates with great scholars and scholars. Overcome all.

Tahira was stoned and cursed in the streets by the Iranian government where she was imprisoned. He was deported from place to place and received death threats. But he never gave up in his struggle for the freedom of his gender and endured the persecution with great courage and patience. The minister of the then government in whose house she was imprisoned said: "You can kill me, but you can't stop women's liberation." His painful life came to an end when government officials took him to a garden where he was strangled and martyred.

Qurat-ul-Ain Tahira's courageous and immortal personality will also be remembered for sacrificing her life for her cause. Today, people of all religions, religions, nationalities, and genders, without distinction, are fans of Tahira's poetry. He said that male and female birds are the two wings of humanity and this bird cannot fly at its highest level unless both its wings are equally strong and balanced.

One of the teachings of Tahira's Baha'i religion is that women should be considered equal to men and given equal rights and privileges, equal education, and equal opportunities. Qurat-ul-Ain Tahira has sacrificed her life for the sake of these highest standards. This short and interesting biography is offered in PDF file format by TaamirNews.
