Dagh Dehlavi (Nawab Mirza Khan Dagh Dehlavi) (Born: 25 / May 1831 - Died: 17 / March 1905) Don't be a great poet in the sense that for example Mir, Ghalib, or Iqbal are called great poets but the stain has always been counted among the important poets of Urdu, their poetic significance and their poetry. Even today, artistic value cannot be denied. Poets like Iqbal and Simab have also been affected by the stain. In his obituary on the death of Dagh, Iqbal has described him as the last poet of Jahanabad (Delhi).

The last poet of Jahanabad is silent And the truth is that after the stain, the land of Delhi has not produced a poet who can fill their void. Dagh was able to cover all the genres of poetry that were prevalent in his time. On the destruction of Delhi, he also wrote the city of turmoil, recited poems in honor of his patrons, historical pieces are also memorable to him, quatrains are also present in his vocabulary but his first identity became his ghazal and second status. His Masnavi, which became popularly known as "Faryad-e-Dagh" commemorates his affair with Mani Bai Hijab of Calcutta.

The most striking feature of Dagh's ghazal is the sincerity and expressiveness of the emotion. His ghazals are not entirely devoid of the intellectual element, albeit at least, but his thinking takes him to the phenomena of life that only a concerned person can face. On Dag's anniversary, a memorable book based on his short biography is being offered in PDF file form by TaamirNews. The size of this PDF file of about 100 pages is only 3 megabytes.
